Everybody seems to want braces these days. The increase in demand for a perfect smile and a beautiful seat of teeth has subsequently increased the demand for cosmetic procedures such as whitening, veneers, and of course braces. Braces are considered one of the most sought after cosmetic dental procedures. They can fix every problem related to the arrangement of your teeth. Whether you suffer from crowding, spacing, a buried tooth, an overbite, underbite or otherwise, braces may well be the best answer for you.
At what age should I get braces?
About 15 years ago, the answer to this question was very different from nowadays. In the old days, with the lack of options, braces were almost exclusively for kids and teens. You would have seen braces for kids, braces for teens, but braces for adults ?? that was a very rare occurrence.
That is because of the awful appearance of metallic braces. Nowadays, however, there are many more options to choose from that are significantly better looking, making braces easy for everyone, especially adults.
That being said, it is far easier and much faster to get braces at a young age. When you’re young, your bones are malleable and able to adapt quickly to the movement of teeth. So although there is no particular age to start braces, you would be wise to seek help for your kids at their young age.

What are the options available nowadays?
-
Traditional metallic braces:
Old but gold. Still widely used and still regarded as the gold standard of braces. It is a system metallic brackets, wires and colorful elastics that are fixed to the outer surface of your teeth. The wires are changed every one or two visits, applying pressure to the teeth in order to move them to the desired location.
-
Clear braces:
They use the same principle as metallic braces. The only difference is .. the brackets are clear ceramic rather than metal. Clear braces are far better looking, and suitable for almost every case.
-
Invisalign:
The epitome of evolution of braces. No more brackets or wires. Invisalign is a system of transparent molds that are placed on the outer surface of the teeth (without being fixed to them) and apply pressure in a certain manner to move the teeth.
As you can imagine, Invisalign has a lot of advantages, such as superior esthetics, higher accuracy, and being able to remove them at will making oral hygiene easier.
Invisalign teen is one of the applications of the system. Same as Invisalign, but takes into consideration the growth pattern of teenagers, and so manipulate the way their teeth would be eventually set in their mouths. -
Lingual braces:
A kind of modern concept where the brackets are placed on the inner rather than outer surface of the teeth, making them all but invisible. However, they cause a lot of irritation to the tongue and are very difficult to apply.
